SELLERS BEWARE
I am extremely disappointed with my experience with Viper Jet.
As part of my home sale, my buyers requested that I have the sewer line professionally cleaned. I hired Viper Jet and paid $1,000 for them to jet-clean the line and perform a video inspection. At the time, I was very happy the service.
One week later, I was presented with an $11,500 quote from Viper Jet for a sewer liner. A quote that had been provided from my buyers.
What’s concerning is that Viper Jet did not come back to perform a new inspection or provide a new on-site estimate for this liner.
Response from the owner
We understand that real estate negotiations can become stressful, but this review does not accurately represent what occurred. This customer originally left ViperJet a five-star review because she was satisfied with the hydro jetting and camera inspection we performed. She later changed that review to the lowest possible rating not because of the quality of our work, but because the buyers requested a separate estimate and then used it during their negotiations. To be clear, ViperJet did not contact the buyers, encourage them to request additional work, or involve ourselves in the home sale. The buyers contacted us and specifically requested an estimate for a sewer liner. As a professional sewer company, we provided the estimate they requested based on the recent video inspection and the condition visible in that footage. Because the line had just been inspected, there was no reason to charge anyone for another inspection simply to prepare an estimate. An estimate is not a requirement to perform the work, nor is it a statement that the line is currently backing up. Sewer lines can show deterioration or conditions that may be suitable for rehabilitation even when there has not yet been a history of backups. Whether the buyer or seller chooses to proceed with the work or how they use the estimate during negotiations is entirely between those parties. VDS has no control over a buyer’s requests, a seller’s concessions, or the outcome of a real estate transaction. We stand behind the cleaning and inspection service that earned the customer’s original five-star review. We also believe it would have been inappropriate to refuse a legitimate request for an estimate simply because one party might not like how it affected their negotiations. Our responsibility is to provide honest observations, requested estimates, and professional sewer services not to influence a home sale. We respectfully hope you will reconsider and restore your original five-star review, since the quality of the service you originally reviewed has not changed and ViperJet acted appropriately when responding to a separate request for an estimate.
