    Tried to charge me over $800 to cut a pipe and put a shark bite on. Maybe $40 in parts. I ended up just doing myself. But out $130 for after hours charge. But got some bonding time with my son and taught him some plumbing. About 30 mins and I had my water back on.

    Chris, thank you for taking the time to share your experience and speaking with me this afternoon. We apologize for any confusion regarding the estimate that was provided. We do want to clarify that the estimate was not for simply cutting the pipe and installing a SharkBite or other push-to-connect fitting. Our proposed repair included removing the damaged section, properly rebuilding the copper connections and fittings, and installing a new section of copper pipe using professional permanent connections. As a company, we do not use SharkBite-style or other push-to-connect fittings as a permanent repair when we are able to make a proper copper connection. Our estimate reflected the labor, materials, after-hours response, and workmanship required to provide what we believe is a professional, long-term repair rather than a temporary or simplified solution. We completely understand that you chose to complete the repair yourself, and we’re glad you were able to get your water restored quickly, and even get some bonding time with your son in the process. We appreciate the opportunity to clarify what was included in our estimate and apologize again if that was not communicated clearly enough during the visit.
