To say that I’m very pleased with Black Gold Septic is a gross understatement. I had a septic blockage causing overflow and back flow into the interior drainage system. The septic tank is located in the back yard and the septic field, we recently discovered, runs about 100 ft and beyond into the front yard. Carlos identified the problem, walked me through the diagnostic video, and offered possible scenarios that required further inspection involving unearthing the pipes. The crew returned the next day and completed the job in under 3 hours.

Got a price in November of 3000 to fix leach field. Was avoided for 3 months they ignored Tex’s and emails. Went and knocked on there door in Elburn and was told they had been working elsewhere. Finally talked to the owner on the foreman’s phone. They showed up the same day with a $800 price increase, I was over a barrel and had to have the work done. They did a good job and were done in two and a half hours. Wouldn’t recommend black gold unless you get everything including time line in writing!!

Excellent and friendly service. I had a blockage in my plumbing. The plumber said to have the septic tank pumped and the line back to the house rodded. I called Black Gold Septic late on a Monday afternoon, and the problem was fixed by noon on the following Wednesday. This was not an easy job, as the ground was frozen and they found a wall in the septic tank that made getting into the line difficult. I’m very pleased with their service.

From the Google listing, checked 30 Aug 2026.

Reviews point to speed when a system backs up. John writes that when his tank overflowed on Christmas night, the office said "they will be out in three hours" and Billy and Leo showed up about two hours later. Another reviewer describes a backup diagnosed on video one day and dug up and repaired the next, with the lawn patched when the crew left. The picture is not all five stars, though. Most reviewers give the top rating, while the low ones describe ignored texts and emails over months and one repair bill that came in above the first quote.

Around Elburn, the main drain-field limit is slow water movement: water leaves the soil too slowly for a conventional field to keep up. Site conditions on any one lot can differ from the map. See the Elburn city page for the full soil profile.

Before You Call

For a drain field that has gone sluggish, the decision is whether to jet the lines or plan something bigger. Black Gold Septic offers both hydro-jetting and terra lift work, so it is fair to ask which they would try first on a field like yours.
